Wetlands Assimilation

Mexico

Paraman Lagoon, Mexico

Description Here

Mexico WA Image One      This Ecological Baseline Study (EBS) is a wetland assimilation project for the treated effluent from the Paraman-Chalacatepec lagoon system in Mexico's southwest pacific coast. It is structured to understand and define how the process should be designed to assimilate treated effluent, its construction, operation, and monitoring. The EBS will describe ecological conditions at the proposed site, as well as the hydrology, water chemistry and soil, productivity of vegetation in coastal wetlands, and the animal populations. It will document the feasibility of wetlands assimilation, provide design engineering and ecological cost / benefit analysis, with the development of design to operate and monitor the future Paraman-Chalacatepec system, and analyze the potential for wetlands carbon sequestration and sale of credit in the international market.

The results obtained in EBS will provide options for creating new wetlands. The EBS is based on field investigations in the sampling sites and detailed bibliographical analysis, and discussions with the administrative staff.
